How one creator funds her travels without leaving her day job
Travel creator Annie Sharma says remote work combined with income from sponsored content and trips lets her travel frequently while keeping her regular job.
For people who want to travel more but aren’t ready to give up a steady paycheque, travel creator Annie Sharma offers a template that doesn’t involve quitting anything. In a recent Instagram video, she breaks down how she funds and schedules her trips while keeping a regular 9-to-5 job.
According to Annie, remote work is one of the biggest reasons she can travel this way. She also shares that she earns through social media content, sponsored activities, and occasional sponsored trips — income sources that help support her travel expenses alongside her main job.
Planning plays a central role in making this possible. Annie says she avoids spontaneous trips entirely, instead planning each one around two months in advance. “I usually don’t take spontaneous trips because this helps me calculate how much money I need to save, how much the expenditure will be, and how many leaves I will take,” she explains.
She also favours trips of around 10 days, a length that lets her work remotely on weekdays while exploring on the weekends at either end of the trip. Her advice to others hoping to travel more: “You don’t have to leave your job to follow your passion because everyone on social media is saying you do that. Sometimes all it needs is better planning.”
