Uber’s new Kolkata partner just promised 1,000 driver-partner jobs

Fleet management company Carrum Mobility aims to onboard around 1,000 driver-partners in Kolkata over the next 12 months following its entry into the city in partnership with Uber.

Around 1,000 new driver-partner jobs could open up in Kolkata over the next year, after fleet management company Carrum Mobility announced its entry into the city in partnership with Uber.

The Gurugram-based company, which supplies cars to ride-hailing platforms, said it has tied up with Uber to onboard drivers as part of its first push into the eastern India market.

Carrum Mobility already operates a fleet of over 4,500 cars across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Bengaluru, providing driver-partner onboarding, vehicle maintenance, compliance management and daily fleet operations for ride-hailing platforms.

For its Kolkata rollout, the company has introduced a ‘structured onboarding programme’ covering vehicle handling, safety practices and platform training for new driver-partners, founder and CEO Karan Jain said.

‘Founded in 2024, Carrum Mobility provides business-to-business mobility solutions to ride-hailing platforms. We are currently operating at an annualised revenue run rate of Rs 400 crore. With our launch in Kolkata, we have entered the eastern India market and plan to expand further,’ Jain said.

With Kolkata added to its network, Carrum Mobility now has a footprint across six Indian cities, and says it intends to keep growing its driver base in the region.
