Bank of India Opens 779 Credit Officer Posts — But Freshers Need Not Apply

Bank of India has released its Credit Officer Recruitment 2026 notification for 779 posts across three officer scales, open only to experienced banking professionals.

Bank of India (BOI) has released its Credit Officer Recruitment 2026 notification, inviting applications for 779 posts under the General Banking Officer (GBO) Stream, vide Project No. 2026-27/01.

The vacancies are split across three officer scales: 677 posts in MMGS-II, 61 in MMGS-III, and 41 in SMGS-IV. Notably, 475 of these are unfilled vacancies carried forward from BOI’s previous recruitment drive (Project 2025-26/01, dated 1 November 2025), making this one of the bank’s larger Credit Officer hiring exercises in recent years.

This is not an entry-level opportunity — freshers are not eligible. Candidates need post-qualification experience in credit, lending or risk-assessment roles at a Scheduled Commercial Bank, ranging from a minimum of 3 years for MMGS-II up to 8 years for SMGS-IV, along with a graduation degree carrying at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) or an equivalent professional qualification such as CA, CMA-ICWA, CS or CFA.

Applications are accepted online at bankofindia.co.in from 30 June 2026 to 20 July 2026. Age limits vary by scale — 25 to 32 years for MMGS-II, 28 to 38 for MMGS-III, and 32 to 45 for SMGS-IV, as on 1 June 2026 — with standard relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen and 1984 riot-affected candidates. The application fee is ₹850 for General/EWS/OBC candidates and ₹175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

Selection depends on an online examination and/or a personal interview, with a 70:30 weightage between the two if both stages are held. The revised exam pattern for this cycle covers English Language (qualifying only) and Professional Knowledge, together worth 125 marks over 120 minutes, with a 0.25-mark penalty for each wrong answer.

Pay ranges from roughly ₹64,820 to ₹1,20,940 in basic pay depending on scale, along with DA, HRA and other allowances — though selected MMGS-II officers must also deposit a refundable ₹2,00,000 security deposit, and MMGS-III/SMGS-IV officers ₹3,00,000, refundable after three years of satisfactory service.
